Notes:Prominent Baltic saxophonist's and composer's Toms Rudzinskis second album on Jersika together with his acoustic quartet with brilliant musicians - pianist Alex Koo, double bassist Igor Spallati, and drummer Ivars Arutyunyan.
"It’s been 10 years since I released my debut album, ABRA. Since then, I’ve explored a wide array of musical landscapes, from intimate solo performances to quartets, quintets, and big bands. With Interception, I am returning to the possibilities of a more traditional jazz quartet—saxophone, piano, double bass, and drums—while reflecting on the musical and personal journey I’ve experienced over these years.
This decade has taken me across borders, introduced me to incredible people, and exposed me to a world of music. All of these experiences have shaped me both musically and personally, and are woven into the music I wrote for this album.
This album also introduces a string quartet, adding new layers of depth and complexity, expanding the sonic range of the album, and bridging the diverse musical influences that inspire me.
I would like to express my gratitude to Mareks Ameriks and the Jersika Records team for their vision and tireless work in bringing this project to life.
A heartfelt thanks to Alex Koo, Igor Spallati, and Ivars Arutjunjans for their artistry and commitment to this collaboration.
Finally, I want to thank my family for their unwavering support, inspiration, and guidance throughout my musical journey." - Toms Rudzinskis
